Jacopo Turini February 17, 2022 EVENTS, TRANSLATION

The Centre for Advanced Research in Languages and Cultures (CASiLaC) in the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures kindly invites you to participate in the literary translation workshops with UCC/Literature Ireland Literary Translator in Residence 2022:

Literary Translation Workshops

How to get into literary translation

With Clara Ministral, Literary Translator in Residence

For translation students interested in a career in literary translation, getting into that field might sometimes seem like a daunting or even impossible task. However, there are a number of realistic, practical steps that any translator can take when seeking that elusive first book contract. From how to put together a pitch for publishers to what further training to pursue, from how to increase your visibility in the industry to what networking opportunities to keep an eye out for, this series of three workshops will offer tips and guidance for aspiring literary translators and offer attendees some valuable ideas on where to start.

Open to participants working with any language pair.

Schedule:

Session 1: Thursday 24th February – ORB. 244 (14:00 – 16:00)

Session 2: Thursday 10th March – ORB. 156 (14:00 – 16:00)

Session 3: Thursday 7th April – ORB. 201 (14:00 – 16:00)
