Conversation with Barbara Piatti

Jacopo Turini May 5, 2021 EVENTS, SPATIAL HUMANITIES

Rethinking Spatial Humanities Cluster
in Conversation with Barbara Piatti (Switzerland)

Wednesday, 12 May, 9 am
Please write to Barbara Siller for the link to the meeting.

We are happy to announce the upcoming event with the literary and cultural scholar Barbara Piatti who is best known for her work on literary mapping.

Barbara Piatti’s work on spatial concepts includes her book ‘Die Geographie der Literatur. Schauplätze, Handlungsräume, Raumphantasien” (2008) as well as her project on the literary atlas of Europe. However, Piatti is also involved in many other cultural projects which in some way or another are informed by spatial thinking.

Coming Wednesday we’ll discuss with Piatti her work on spatiality, past and current concepts in Spatial Humanities, as well as her project on Rural Criticism which is part of her current research.

Prior to the event we’ll have a reading group where we discuss two texts by Piatti. The reading group will take place coming Monday @ 10am.

If you are interested in joining the reading group, please send an email to Barbara.siller@ucc.ie
