Anna-Nina Kroll, currently Literary Translator in Residence in the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at UCC, will be speaking about her 10-year career in literary translation in which she has translated and co-translated more than 30 books by authors such as John Irving, Patricia Highsmith, Louise Nealon, Donal Ryan, Anna Burns, and Carmen Maria Machado. She will provide an overview of the translation-heavy German book market and publishing landscape, the editorial process, fees, royalties, and contracts as well as tips for beginners, followed by a Q & A.

Literary translators Clara Ministral and Anna-Nina Kroll will be discussing the challenges and joys of translating Irish literature into other European languages. Clara has translated works by Rebecca Solnit, Jan Carson, Colin Bateman and Sherman Alexie into Spanish while Anna-Nina has translated the likes of John Irving, Patricia Highsmith, Donal Ryan and Anna Burns into German. Together, they have more than 20 years of experience.
