FEBRUARY 19, 2019. James Joyce in Italy: for a new Italian translation of The Dead

Casilac Administrator February 12, 2019 EVENTS, OTHER

Last week His Excellency Paolo Serpi (Italian Ambassador to Ireland) and UCC President Patrick O’Shea officially opened the “Irish in Italy” exhibition in the Boole Library in UCC. We would especially like to thank the President for his time and advocacy.

A short film of the event can be see here: https://youtu.be/FyOWHgFNTl0

This fascinating project is curated by Dr Antonio Bibbò, and interrogates the interrelationship between Ireland and Italy in the 20th century, especially the reception of Irish literary culture on the Italian peninsula.

The launch was preceded by a wonderful lecture by the internationally renowned Joyce scholar Prof. John McCourt (University of Macerata), who talked about Joyce’s Italian years and also his links to Cork through his father. As part of the exhibition there will be further lectures.

As part of the “Irish in Italy” Exhibition, the Department of Italian, CASiLaC, and the Boole Library warmly invite you to:
