Representing Gender-Based Violence
Monday 20 March
North Council Room at 2pm
The Violence, Conflict and Gender research cluster in the Centre for Advanced Studies in Languages and Cultures (CASiLaC) warmly invites you to the launch of Representing Gender-Based Violence: Global Perspectives (Palgrave Macmillan 2023) edited by Dr Caroline Williamson Sinalo (UCC) and Dr Nicoletta Mandolini (Universidade do Minho). Dr Alan Gibbs (UCC) will officially launch the book at 2pm on Monday, 20 March in the North Council Room. This publication is the culmination of the work driven by both editors during their convenorship of the VCG research cluster, and it includes chapters written by other cluster members too. The volume explores the politics, ethics and pitfalls of representational practices surrounding Gender-Based Violence (GBV). It examines how GBV is represented across philosophy/epistemology, fiction and non-fictional media representations and discusses feminism in relation with global trends to identify its cultural frontline.
The launch is generously supported by CASiLaC. All welcome!
