Dr. Till Weingärtner, School of Asian Studies, UCC, introduced rakugo to an Irish audience by giving a short introduction to the genre, followed by a rakugo-style performance of selected stories (in English). Rakugo is a traditional storytelling method that has been pulling audiences into its spell long before TV and films appeared in Japan and continues to be enjoyed as “sit-down comedy”.
