Chiara Valcelli (IRC - Government of Ireland PhD Scholar)

Chiara Valcelli received her BA in humanities (2018) from the Università di Perugia and her MA in Italian Language to Foreigners (2021) from the Università per Stranieri di Perugia with a thesis on the influence of Dante’s Inferno in the works of James Joyce.

From May to August 2022, she won a research grant at Univeristà per Stranieri di Perugia with a project entitled: “Dante’s path in Umbria: following Dante’s steps in Paradiso XI”.

Chiara Valcelli is currently a Government of Ireland PhD scholar - her project received funding from the Irish Research Council for the Academic Years 2022-2023 to 2025-2026. Her research project, entitled “Dante in Joyce: mapping Dante’s Commedia onto Joyce’s Dubliners, Ulysses and Finnegans Wake” is supervised by Daragh O’Connell (Italian Department) and Adam Hanna (English Department).
